Originally from Alta Vista, VA, I was born into broadcasting. My dad, the late Theodore (Ted) Gray, owned radio stations in VA, SC, and NC, including WSML in Graham. So needless to say, I grew up around radio.
In 1981, I came to Alamance County, but not to be in the radio business. I was recruited to play football at Elon. Unfortunately, an injury during my freshman year halted my football career. As the old saying goes, "Everything happens for a reason." So while my football career ended, that injury helped launch my career in radio. I loved being in Alamance County, so I joined my dad and began selling advertising for WSML.
In 1993 I purchased WBAG and decided to take it back to its roots as a community station. I hired familiar voices to the area, gave airtime to non-profit organizations, and thus created "Your Hometown Radio Station."
Now, 20 years later, I'm still here, and WBAG is more committed than ever to serving the people of Alamance County. With news, talk, sports, and the greatest music of all-time, it is my privledge to be the owner of Alamance County's #1 radio station.
Thanks to our sponsors for giving us the opportunity to grow your business, and thanks to our loyal listeners for supporting WBAG!
